"String Wood" CE compliant point to point hand wired Tweed amp. Made in The Netherlands based upon String Wood specs. The original Tweed Deluxe of the 1950s based was a medium-powered amp designed to let guitarists be flexible at smaller gigs while still holding their own when push came to shove. As Blues, Rock, Jazz, western and rockabilly bands got louder and heavier, the overdriven tone of the cranked-up Deluxe continued to find its way into countless smoking hot live performances and recordings sessions.
Over the past decades, players of every style have prized the Deluxe for its unmistakably warm and rich tube tone. However some also wished that the amp had a little bit more power and could be combined with more cabinets.
This is where String Wood comes in. Originals are getting hard to find and continue to appreciate in the vintage collector’s market, but players who enjoy the original tone, feel, and vibe will love the point to point HAND WIRED String Wood Tweed Blues Fever combo or head. In the Blues Fever, we have preserved all the good things from the past, but enhanced the concept for the modern times. We tuned the power to 35 watts and gave the amp three outputs in order to use a vast mix of cabinets on the market today. The amp is available in a 1 x 12 combo, a 2 x 12 combo or a head. In case you chose for a personalized custom order, you can use your favorite cabinet with it and order your own Tolex or other covering as well as your preferred speakers. If you desire, you can also later change the amp from a combo to a head or vice versa as the concept allows for this flexibility. For a small premium we can also build in an optional 10 "inch speaker in the head for practice purposes at home.
Lower settings of the “chicken head” volume control result in harmonically rich clean and warm round tones perfect for authentic vintage rock, blues and country. Cranked up, the String Wood with its thick and rich distorted tone becomes a tone monster. With its capabilities and simplicity to dial in the tone you desire, it’s a great recording amp, too. Every studio should have one!
